Through an ultrasound (USG), doctors can often detect a tiny white flickering dot, which represents the heart pumping blood through the developing circulatory system.

Biological Development and Body Structure

At this stage, the embryo’s body is shaped like a curved bean. Tiny buds that will eventually become arms and legs begin to sprout. These 'limb buds' are the foundation for the complex skeletal and muscular systems that will form in the coming weeks. Furthermore, the neural tube, which eventually forms the brain and spinal cord, is beginning to close and differentiate, marking the start of the nervous system's complex architecture.

Progressing into Week 7: Rapid Growth and Facial Features

As you move into the 7th week, the growth rate accelerates significantly. The embryo nearly doubles in size, reaching approximately 1 to 2 centimeters in length. The baby typically adopts a 'C' shape, which is clearly visible during professional medical screenings. This curvature is necessary to accommodate the massive brain development occurring at the top of the body.

The Formation of the Head and Face

One of the most striking features of week 7 is the size of the head. It accounts for nearly one-third of the total body size because the brain is developing thousands of new neurons every minute. On the face, tiny depressions appear that will soon become nostrils. The eyes, though still covered by skin, are starting to take their positions, and the mouth is beginning to take shape. It is a period of intricate detailing that sets the stage for the baby's unique appearance.
